Tripartite committee on UAE islands meets in Riyadh

The tripartite committee in charge of preparations for negotiations between the United Arab Emirates and Iran over the question of the three disputed Gulf islands meets for the first time today in Jeddah. A Saudi official source said today in a statement that the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman will discuss in their meeting means of drawing up a mechanism, to start direct negotiations between Iran and the UAE with the objective of settling the issue of the islands.
Last Saturday, the Gulf Cooperation Council decided to set up the committee to discuss the question of the islands.
