Mubarak and the Syrian track

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak of said on Friday replying to a question during the joint press conference held in Alexandria with Barak on the possibility of having a meeting between President Hafez al-Assad and the Israeli prime minister that he "cannot say that there will be a meeting at the meantime, and I have nothing to do with that."
Mubarak added that at the meantime there should be meetings and that the time is ripe now to start negotiations. He continued by saying, "Syria seeks peace and is serious in the negotiation process."
