US president hails Moroccan king's efforts for stability and democracy
Morocco-USA, Politics, 7/9/1999

US president Bill Clinton hailed efforts made by King Hassan II that made of Morocco a model of stability in the region. In a message he sent to the sovereign on the occasion of the Youth Day, which marks this year the king's 70th birthday, the US chief executive expressed admiration for the king's efforts to promote the multi-party system and political freedom, making of Morocco an example of democracy for other countries in the region.

Clinton wrote that the US first lady, who paid this year two visits to Morocco, has been speaking about the king's moves to promote the economy and consolidate the respect of human rights.

Clinton also expressed to the Moroccan king gratefulness for his courageous efforts for a fair and lasting peace in the Middle east and voiced confidence that the two men will carry on close collaboration for the achievement of common goals.
