SLA militia approaching its end

News reports from the occupied part of south Lebanon spoke of further collapse and dismembering in the lines of the Israeli-allied South Lebanon Army militia.

The news reports stressed that individual and collective resignations were submitted to these militias and reached last week some 85 resignations.

The reports said that it has become evident to officers and members of the SLA that resignation of the militia's leader, Antoine Lahd, will come soon and that such a resignation will be an entrance to dissolving this militia, which is no longer able to protect itself and has become of a heavy burden on the Israeli occupation forces in south Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces on Thursday morning bombarded the outskirts of Hadatha and the Jib Sweid district, near Majdal Zoun. News reports from south Lebanon said the Israeli bombardment coincided with a mopping-up campaign using machine gun fire, carried out by the Israeli and Israeli-allied militia position in Barachit against areas surrounding the position.

Meanwhile, Israeli reconnaissance planes flew at low altitudes over the areas of the western sector of south Lebanon.

On Thursday morning UNIFIL exploded a shell which was one of the remaining of the Israeli munitions from strikes against Majdal Suloum town.
