AL regrets US Congress campaign against Sudan
Regional-Sudan-USA, Politics, 7/9/1999

The general secretariat of the Arab League has expressed its regret over the hostile campaign launched by several US Congress members against Sudan, and attempts aimed at imposing a draft resolution to create "no-fly zone areas" in southern Sudan.

The AL general secretariat called on the US government not to respond to this decision which violates Sudan's security, threatens its national unity and is considered a flagrant intervention in its internal affairs and a violation to the rules of the international law and the supremacy of the state.

The AL general secretariat recalled the recent decision adopted by the AL council which stressed backing Sudan against attempts made to undermine its sovereignty and stability and against foreign threats hatched against it.
