Italy to expel over 60 Moroccan illegal immigrants
Morocco-Italy, Politics, 7/8/1999
The Italian authorities will expel over 60 Moroccan illegal immigrants who entered on July 2 the European country hidden in containers, the Italian Interior Ministry said.
An executive from the Moroccan Interior Ministry went to Italy to arrange for the repatriation of the clandestine immigrants in the same cargo boat that transported them.
The repatriation will be conducted in conformity with a series of international conventions on sea law and international transport ratified by the two countries and the bilateral re-admission agreement signed in July 1998.
Meanwhile, an investigation was launched to identify persons responsible for transporting the Moroccan illegal immigrants in the cargo boat.
