Syria reciprocates Barak's desire for peace
Syria-Israel, Politics, 7/8/1999

Commenting on statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak when he was presenting his new government, a Syrian Foreign Ministry source said on Wednesday that Syria reciprocates Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak's desire to put an end to wars and to establish comprehensive peace in the region.

The Syrian source added that the Syrian government is ready to reciprocate each step and to resume peace negotiations from the point at which they broke off as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Israel welcomed Syria's statements by saying, "Syria creates good atmospheres and Syria emphasizes that it will reciprocate every good initiative."
