Iraqi tribe attacks ruling party headquarters

A news bulletin issued by the Iraqi opposition Communist Party abroad said on Wednesday that the Abu Hassan tribe which lives in the suburbs of al-Rmeithah on the night of July 4 attacked the premises of the Iraqi Baath Party and killed or wounded most members of the armed party and security elements present at the premises.
The bulletin added, according to sources in al-Rmeithah, that this operation came as a reaction to the hanging, recently, of three citizens from the tribe's clans under charges of smuggling hashish.
The news bulletin indicated that groups of the emergency forces of the Iraqi authorities clashed with members of Albu Hassan tribe and fierce confrontations took part between the two sides during which heavy human losses were inflected.
