Demonstration at headquarters of international peace conference denounces normalization with Israel

The chairman of the conference, former Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Khalil, said the conference is not about normalization. "Normalization is up to states to decide and we will not interfere in policies pursued by governments."
Chairman of Cairo Peace Association Salah Bassiuni said, "Without dialogue there would be no understanding and subsequently just and overall peace would not be reached."
Meanwhile, Some leaders of Egyptian intellectual movements and parties demonstrated yesterday before the site of a peace conference in Cairo to denounce normalization with Israel.
The public forum for liberating Palestinian condemned convening the conference and said in a statement issued yesterday that, "The activity of the Copenhagen group appeared again to penetrate the Arab public opinion that opposes normalization."
The statement said that real peace is not determined with the Israeli governments' programs but with recognition of national rights of the Palestinian people and restoration of all Arab rights.
