Algeria supports Egypt's bid to join Maghreban union; 10 fold trade increase

Algeria's ambassador to Cairo, Mustapha Sharif, said Algerian president, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, supports Egyptian bid to join the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA).

In a statement to Egyptian daily Al-Ahram, the Algerian diplomat said Bouteflika renewed to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak who visited Algeria over the week end support to Egyptian bid to become member of the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA/gathering Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia)

He added that the two states wish to increase at least by 10 fold the volume of trade exchanges, presently standing at one million dollars.
