Message from President Mubarak to Gaddafi
Egypt-Libya, Politics, 7/6/1999
Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gaddafi received a message yesterday from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in which Mubarak informed Gaddafi of the results of his visits to the US and France.
The message was conveyed by Egyptian Information Minister Safwat al-Sharif during his meeting with Gaddafi in the Libyan city of Syrte on Monday.
In his message, the Egyptian president underlined the importance of coordination between Libya and Egypt towards various international issues and boosting "fraternal relations" in all fields.
Al-Sharif said his visit to Libya came in the context of continued consultations between the two states toward new events in the world. In a pre-departure statement at Syrte airport on Monday, al-Sharif said the aim of the visit was to create a common Arab vision concerning current Arab and international issues and to try to achieve a united Arab economic system in confrontation of economic blocs taking place in the world.
