Moroccan wins 5,000 meter race in Saint-Denis meeting, shatters own record

Brahim Jabbour, Morocco, won Saturday afternoon during the Saint-Denis athletics meeting the 5,000 meter race in 13:01.41, shattering his own record of 13:08.86.
The meeting record, 12:57.73, is however still claimed by Salah Hissou, Morocco, since 1998.
Second place went to Thomas Niariki, Kenya, with 13:04.07, while third place was held by Mustapah Essaid, France with 13:06.87.
Fatima Hammou-Hajjani, the only other Moroccan athlete having participated in the Saint-Denis meeting, came in last in the women's 5,000 meter race. The race was won by Fernanda Ribeira, Portugal, with a time of 14:56.59.
