Morocco-Australia, Economics, 7/5/1999
Morocco and Australia reviewed in Rabat the projected trade agreement, expected to be signed during an Australian official's visit to Morocco, according to a statement of the Moroccan Ministry of Industry, Trade and Handicraft.
The projected agreement was reviewed at a meeting between Moroccan minister of industry, trade and handicraft, Alami Tazi, and Morocco's honorary consul to Australia, Terence Mullane.
The document is expected to be signed during an upcoming visit to Morocco by Australian deputy premier and minister of trade. The statement gave no date of this visit.
The Moroccan minister also recalled that Morocco wishes a rapid conclusion of agreements on non-double taxation and investments guarantee and promotion, two documents that will give to bilateral cooperation an adequate legal framework.
Moroccan-Australian exchanges reached in 1988 a total value of $4.74 million, including $3.36 million of imports (wheat, butter, meat, fertilizers and cheese) and $1.38 million of exports (phosphates, canned fish and vegetables).
