Iranian president receives message from Gaddafi
Libya-Iran, Politics, 7/5/1999

Iranian President Muhammad Khatami on Sunday received a special envoy from Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gaddafi. The envoy, Saad Mujbir, gave the Iranian president a message implying appreciation for efforts made by President Khatami to strengthen and foster relations among the Islamic states.

President Khatami praised Libya's steadfastness against foreign pressure and threats. He expressed his hope that the Islamic states would restore their strategic position and eliminate all obstacles impeding their progress to maintain close and intensive cooperation.

Mujber, for his part, stressed Libya's desire to strengthen " fraternal" relations with Iran. He stressed the priority given by Libya to develop fields of cooperation between the two countries.
