Cairo international conference for peace to start on Monday

The three-day Cairo international conference for peace will start on Monday. The conference is organized by Copenhagen's international alliance for Arab - Israeli peace under the chairmanship of former Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Khalil.

An official source in the conference's preparatory committee said the conference's aim is to direct a message to the new Israeli government to work on building trust to quickly enter final status discussions regarding the Palestinian track.

Palestinian President Yasser Arafat is to deliver a speech in the general session for the conference that will be held Tuesday morning under the title, "A general discussion regarding the peace process in addition to another speech delivered by former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres, European Middle East peace envoy Miguel Moritinos and Vladimair Joseph, Russia's ambassador in Cairo, in addition to spokesmen from peace movements in Egypt and Israel.
