Syrian prisoner appeals to Israeli court

The Kul al-Arabs weekly issued in the occupied Arab territories on Friday said that Syrian prisoner Yasser al-Muwazen (27) has appealed to the supreme court in Israel, asking the Israeli authorities to release him because he suffers from a serious kidney disease.

The weekly added that the Syrian youth was arrested in south Lebanon, and he was sentenced by an Israeli military court to 25 years imprisonment after being convicted of planning to carry out a military operation against Israel.

The appeal said that due to his health condition al-Muwazen needs to filter his blood three times a week due to his kidney problem and is drastically in need of kidney planting.

He stressed that his brothers await him in Damascus to offer him one kidney to save his life.

Nevertheless, the Israeli committee in charge of alleviating the sentences issued by Israel refused to respond to his appeal which he submitted last January.

Al-Muwazen's appeal was also rejected by the Tel Aviv central department for prisons.
