OIC calls for resuming Middle East peace talks
Regional-OIC, Politics, 7/3/1999
The foreign ministers of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference have called for resuming peace negotiations in the Middle East.
AFP said that foreign ministers, who concluded their meeting on Thursday night in Burkina Faso, called on India and Pakistan to start negotiations and permit humanitarian organizations to deliver aid to the population in the areas under conflict in Kashmir. The OIC also called for the UN to play a role that would ensure peace in Kosovo.
OIC Secretary General Azeddine Laraki said the meeting, which was held under certain international conditions, expressed its backing for offering Kosovo a self-rule authority and for the return of all refugees to their homeland and to ensure protection for them.
