GCC FM s resume session
Gulf, Politics, 7/3/1999

Foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states resume today the deliberations of their 71st session in the city of Jeddah. GCC Secretary General Jamil al-Hujeilan said in a press statement on Friday in Riyadh that the ministerial meeting, which will be held only for one day, will complete discussions of debated issues on the session's agenda with the objective of releasing the final statement.

The ministers ended the works of their 71st session in June without issuing a concluding statement.

Sources at the GCC general secretariat said the final statement will reflect the position of the GCC concerning recent developments on the Middle East peace process; results of the recent Israeli aggression against Lebanon, especially the consequence of the said aggression in killing civilians and destroying the infrastructure; as well as the Arab Gulf-Iranian relations; the situation in Iraq and the latest political developments on the regional, Islamic and international levels.

Omani Foreign Minister Yousef Bin Alawi said the ministers will issue today a concluding statement that will focus on the solidarity of the GCC states.
