Sudan says it is undergoing attack for its success in openness
Sudan, Politics, 7/2/1999

Sudan's permanent representative at the AL, Ahmad Abdul Halim, said in press statements following his meeting on Thursday with the secretary general of the Arab League that Sudan undergoes a hostile campaign following the improvement of relations with neighboring states, the European states and the US administration.

He added that "the Zionist pressure groups and certain members of the US Congress and international non-governmental organizations are not pleased over the improvement in Sudan's relations with the world states," as well as the remarks made by the US administration on lifting the embargo imposed on the bank accounts of Salaheddine Idrees, the owner of the Sudanese al-Shefaa medicinal factory, which was destroyed by the US air strikes on Sudan last year.

Abdul Halim added that he asked the AL chief to continue backing for Sudan in order to preserve its regional security and national sovereignty, adding that this issue will be debated at the 112th session of the AL council, due to be held in Cairo in September this year.
