Moroccan trade mission to UK, food processing a subject

A Moroccan trade mission is undertaking this July 4-9 a mission to the United Kingdom to explore opportunities for trade partnership in the food and drinks processing industry.

According to a statement of the British embassy in Morocco, the business delegation will participate in a seminar in London along with British companies who package and process food and drinks. Workshops will look at food hygiene, European food and environment legislation, research and development, and quality control. The seminar will also look at case studies from Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt, and the proposed assistance of the British Trade International.

In 1998, Moroccan exports to the UK went up by 6% to 5.6 billion (one us dollar is 10 dh) and UK exports to Morocco maintained their high level of over 5.4 billion dirhams posted in the previous year.

Morocco is UK's first trade partner in North Africa. A percentage of 9 to 10 percent of Morocco's exports to the UK are made up of food and beverages.
