Regional, Politics, 7/2/1999
The Arab League on Thursday strongly criticized the government of ourgoing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for refusing to take part in the meetings of the April Understanding Monitoring Committee.
The AL's assistant secretary general for political affairs, Muhammad Zakaraya Ismael, said the refusal of Netanyahu's government to take part in the committee complies with the stubbornness of the Likud government, which is deliberately working to kill the Middle East peace process.
In press statements he made in Cairo on Thursday commenting on the stances of the Netanyahu government, he said he does not rule out that one of Netanyahu's objectives is to make the situation very difficult for the coming government of Ehud Barak.
