Iran-Germany, Politics, 7/2/1999
The US magazine US News and World Report said in its issue released on June 28 that the Iranian authorities told Germany that nine out of the 13 suspended Iranian Jews in Iran under charges of spying are not in fact spies.
Israel Radio quoted the magazine as saying that the Iranian confession was made after Germany's government set a condition that the question of the detained Jews must be settled before the Iranian President Muhammad Khatami's visit to Germany materialize.
The deputy chairman of the Jewish-American Organization said that he doubts that Iran has abrogated the charges of spying addressed to nine out of the 13 Jews. He added he recently received contradictary news on the fate of the suspended people.
