Jordan: Daily's chief editor in custody

Jordanian security forces have arrested the chief editor of the Jordanian independent daily al-Arab al-Youm, Shaker al-Jawhari. His son, Ragheb al-Jawhari, said on Wednesday that the "intelligence forces" had summoned his father on Tuesday for investigation and then, "We knew nothing about him."
Ragheb al-Jawhari indicated that his father's detention is connected to his critical articles against the policies pursued by the Jordanian government.
This is the first time a Jordanian journalist has been taken into custody since the formation of the current Jordanian government under the leadership of Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh in March as well as since King Abdullah's assumption of power in Jordan.
