GCC foreign ministers to meet on Saturday
Gulf, Politics, 7/1/1999

The foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states are to resume their meetings on Saturday in Jeddah. Earlier, the GCC foreign ministers suspended their meeting on June 12, due to the need, then, for further consultation on certain topics debated on the agenda of the session.

Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani mediated between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to end their argument regarding Saudi relations with Iran and the issues of three Gulf islands whose sovereignty is a matter of dispute between the UAE and Iran.

The GCC foreign ministers will discuss a Qatari draft resolution regarding relations between the council and Iran, and they are to discuss the situation in the Middle East, the peace process and the existing dispute between the UAE and Iran.
