OIC foreign ministers meeting condemns Israel
Regional, Politics, 7/1/1999
The secretary general of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Azeddine Laraki, has stressed a need to unite Islamic efforts to counter the challenges currently taking place in the Islamic world, indicating that the OIC is working to achieve this very objective.
In a statement to Sawt al-Arab radio, Laraki added that the issue of Jerusalem is viewed as the most significant one included on the agenda of the 26th session of the OIC foreign ministers, currently underway in Burkina Faso.
Meanwhile, foreign ministers from the OIC member states meeting in Burkina Faso's capital on Wednesday prepared a draft resolution condemning Israel's attack last week against Lebanon and calling upon Israel to pay compensation.
OIC officials said the foreign ministers have also prepared draft bills connected with Iraq, Sudan, Libya and Kashmir. The ministers are making preparations for holding an OIC summit due in Qatar in the year 2000.
