Ummah Party criticizes Turabi's refusal to form coalition government
Sudan, Politics, 6/30/1999
The opposing Sudanese Ummah party criticized the statement made by Hassan Turabi, the secretary general of the Sudan's ruling National Conference Party, in which he excluded the establishment of a coalition government that includes the opposition.
Bakri Adeel, a prominent leader in the Ummah Party, said in press statements to the Sudanese newspaper El-Rai El-Akhar yesterday that these statements reveal that the Sudanese government's enthusiasm for national reconciliation is nothing but a political tactic whose time has ended.
He added, "The manipulation proved the non-seriousness of the Revolutionary Command Council for National Salvation in reaching reconciliation and national unity."
