Pakistani minister in Cairo: Egypt can play a role in conflict with India
Egypt-Pakistan, Politics, 6/30/1999
Pakistani Majid Minister of Kashmir, the Northern Areas, State, and Frontier Regions welcomed any country's mediation, especially Egypt's, to solve the dispute between his country and India regarding the Kashmir region.
He said, "Egypt under the chairmanship of President Mubarak can play a major role in this field, for it has had good relations with India for a long time, but India always refuses mediation."
This came in statements made by the Pakistani minister at a stopover yesterday evening in Cairo airport on his way to Tunisia on a tour of Arab states to display the Pakistani position toward the development of the Kashmir problem.
Regarding his country's position, Malik asserted the importance of implementing United Nations resolutions regarding the problem and said that if these resolutions are not implemented, Kashmir will not witness any kind of peace.
