Aziz declares Iraq's refusal of Dutch - British draft
Iraq-UN, Politics, 6/29/1999

Iraq stated its absolute refusal of the Dutch - British draft that calls for the Security Council to partially suspend the sanctions imposed on Baghdad since 1990.

Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Aziz said in a televised interview that the British draft resolution asks for imposing new conditions on Iraq.

The draft resolution calls for suspending the embargo imposed on Iraqi petroleum sales for four months if Iraq commits to the condition of eliminating weapons of mass destruction.

The United Nations Security Council started last night discussions that will last a few days regarding the issues of disarming any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and the sanctions imposed on Iraq.
