Syria-Turkey, Politics, 6/29/1999
Sources close to the Turkish government said on Monday that a meeting of Syrian and Turkish delegations was held in Ghazi Eintab in southeast Turkey to discuss security matters.
The sources said during two-days of discussions held at the end of last week in one of the five-star hotels in the city the two sides discussed means of putting the agreement signed in November 20, 1998 in Adanah into actual implementation, according to which Syria pledged to halt backing for the separatists Kurds in Turkey.
According to the agreement reached in Adanah, Syria vowed to halt backing for the Kurdistani Workers' Party (PKK) and not to permit the rebel of the party or its chairman, Abdullah Ocalan, to enter its territories.
