US bombs Iraqi sites

The United States European Command said today that US jets fired on "an Iraqi military command and control site southwest of Mosul" in response to being target by Iraqi radar and fired upon by Iraqi anti-aircraft artillery. The jets, which are part of Operation Northern Watch, which patrols the no-fly zone over northern Iraq, departed the area safely, the statement said.
