Saudi Arabia releases three activists
Saudi Arabia, Politics, 6/28/1999
The Saudi opposition Movement for Islamic Reform in Arabia, which has London as its headquarters, announced that the Saudi authorities on June 25 released three activists who back the maintenance of political reforms in the kingdom.
AFP said the three men, Sheikh Suleiman al-Odeh, Sheikh Sakar al-Hawali and Sheikh Nasser al-Omar were arrested in September, 1994.
A Saudi official statement released then said the three activists were members of a 110-member group, who were making contacts with "suspicious groups," positioned abroad. The Saudi statement added that these groups sought to create splits and disorder in Saudi Arabia.
