On Kharazi's visit to Damascus
Syria-Iran, Politics, 6/28/1999
The BBC correspondent in Damascus said on Sunday that the visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi to Damascus on Sunday came just few hours following an urgent message sent by French President Jacques Chirac to Syrian President Hafez al-Assad, in which Chirac asked Syria "to interfere rapidly in order to calm down the military conditions and to have an impact on the Hizbullah Party and the Lebanese resistance to recede military escalation, due to the fact that both Syria and Iran are considered the main supporters in the region for the Lebanese national resistance."
