King of Morocco grants pardon to 1,072 convicts

On the occasion of the birthday of the prophet (Aid-Al Mawlid), Morocco's King Hassan II granted pardon to 1,072 convicts, including persons held in prison and others who are free.
A total pardon of remaining prison terms was granted to 501 prisoners, while 495 inmates had their prison terms reduced.
Three detainees had their life prison sentences commuted to a limited prison sentence, 43 had their prison terms canceled and fines maintained.
The king usually grants pardon to convicts on the occasion of national and religious feasts.
