Kuwait informs Arab League of its consent for Dutch - British draft on Iraq
Kuwait-Iraq, Politics, 6/26/1999
Kuwait officially informed the Arab League of its consent to the Dutch - British draft for suspending the sanctions imposed on Iraq.
The head of the Kuwaiti captives' committee, Deaig El-Anzi, said his country supports the Dutch - British draft on the captive issue and opposes proposals made by France, Russia and China that do not tackle the issue of the Kuwaiti prisoners of war.
El-Anzi expressed his hope that Iraq will reconsider its opposition to the draft, and he said Baghdad's consent would be a step toward proving good intentions to closing the issue of Kuwaiti captives.
