Report: Israel plans to withdraw from Hasbaya
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 6/26/1999

The Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am has reported an Israeli plan to withdraw from Hasbaya al-Arqoub during the next month of August in a similar withdrawal to that which took place in Jezzine.

Well-informed sources in Kuwait based their expectations on information and news reports from the occupied part of south Lebanon that the Israeli army is planning to evacuate eight or nine sites in the eastern sector, adding that the area to be evacuated from the Israeli-allied militia is 30 square kilometers The sources added that these positions are Shouya, Saghleh, Abu Qamba, al-Ahmadeyah, Kaqkaba, Ein Jarra, Zamraya, and Zamraya crossing.

The sources stressed that if such a withdrawal is made, this means that the Israeli forces will be withdrawing to the Eable al-Saqqi - Marjyoun borders, which means a withdrawal to the borders of the invasion of Lebanon of 1978.

The sources indicated that the Israeli forces will be forcibly withdrawing following the acts of escape and rebellion in the lines of the Israeli-allied militias following an escalation in resistance operations.
