Jordan condemns Israel aggression against Lebanon
Jordan-Lebanon, Politics, 6/26/1999

Jordanian Foreign Minister Abdul Illah al-Khatib has condemned the Israeli air raids against Lebanon. He said these raids are a grave escalation to conditions in the region.

In a statement he made in Amman on Friday, the Jordanian minister stressed his country's stand with Lebanon's people and government and solidarity in rejecting this aggression which would complicate matters in the region.

The Jordanian minister called for stopping these raids immediately and warned against undermining Lebanon's security and stability.

He also called on the US, in its capacity as the Middle East peace cosponsor, to intervene immediately to end the aggression. Al-Khatib also called on the Arab states to back Lebanon in this critical stage and to formulate a united Arab position to withstand these challenges.
