Arab Development Fund warns against increasing shortage in water resources

A report issued by the Arab Development Fund warned against the increaing lack of the water resources available in the Arab states and the increasing demand for water in the future.
The report referred to signs of a lack of necessary water supplies in many Arab states, clarifying that primary studies refer to the probability of a water shortage in the Arab states, estimated at nearly 45 billion cubic meters in the coming year.
The report added that the total demand on water for all uses in the Arab states is nearly estimated at 275 billion cubic meters in the year 2000, clarifying that the available water quantities currently reach 220 billion cubic meters and that it is possible to increase this amount through exploiting new resources for water so that quantities of available water in Arab states reach 250 billion cubic meters.
