Three Lebanese civilians wounded in south Lebanon by Israeli forces

Three Lebanese civilians were wounded on Wednesday as a result of Israeli raids and bombardments which targeted several villages in south Lebanon. In retaliation, the Lebanese resistance carried out a series of operations against the Israeli positions and announced it had killed an officer of a ranking position in the pro-Israeli South Lebanon Army militia, Youssef Atawi when an explosive charge went off on Masharoun road.
Meantime, Lebanese President Emile Lahoud discussed with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri the Israeli military escalation in south Lebanon and the western Bekaa. During the meeting, the Lebanese president stressed that the Lebanese resistance is the only way to liberate south Lebanon and the western Bekaa from the Israeli occupation.
For his part, Berri stressed the unity of the Syrian and Lebanese tracks in the peace negotiations. He stressed the importance of intensifying the efforts of the Lebanese in the framework of their national unity to be able to meet peace requirements in the region.
In a statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am, Berri called for dealing cautiously with the issue of peace while waiting for the Israeli conditions after forming the Israeli government.
Berri continued that Lebanon has to prepare three issues: national unity, the unity of track with Syria and the Lebanese resistance. He warned against Israel's attempts to play with these strategic issues.
