Saddam Hussein pardons university professors who left Baghdad illegally

Iraqi President Saddam Hussein said that university professors who left Iraq illegally can return home without fear of being exposed to legal punishment.
Iraqi radio quoted Iraqi Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abd El-Gabar Tawfik Abd El-Gabar Mohammed as saying President Hussein issued a pardon to university professors and that all legal procedures imposed on them will be lifted upon their return to Iraq.
The Iraqi Cabinet said, "Iraq will reconsider granting a pardon for all who left the country illegitimately."
