Egypt, Politics, 6/23/1999
Egyptian Mufti Nasr Faid Wasel called on the Arab states to avoid hastiness in convening an Arab summit so that they do not emerge from it more torn.
In statements to ArabicNews.com, Wasel said, "The Arab summit must be convened after agreeing on it and on basic lines, as well as the agenda," stressing the importance that the summit succeed so it does not have more of a negative effect than a positive effect.
Wasel criticized Iraq's insistence on not admitting that it did wrong in occupying Kuwait, saying it is a very serious cause.
He urged Iraqi President Saddam Hussein to admit being wrong and to return to reason.
