Moroccan, Spanish justice departments agree to foster cooperation
Morocco-Spain, Judicial, 6/22/1999
Morocco and Spain agreed on Monday to carry out a program of direct cooperation between their justice departments in the fields of training and computerization.
Moroccan and Spanish justice ministers, Omar Azziman and Margarita Mariscal De Cante, announced at a press conference in Madrid that in addition to enforcing the agreement, they also reviewed various judiciary systems in the Mediterranean.
The meeting was held in accordance with a decision made at the latest Moroccan-Spanish high level meeting last April in Madrid.
The two countries are bound by a series of agreements, including a recent agreement authorizing prisoners to serve their sentence in their home country.
The training and computerization program is part of the European Union Meda program adopted for south-Mediterranean countries.
