British suspects' trial continues in Yemen
Yemen, Politics, 6/22/1999
For the last time, eight British suspects in the commission of terrorism actions were presented today before a Yemeni court before it issues its judgment on them.
Defense lawyers say they expect the judgment regarding them to be issued during the coming week.
The court had media coverage, and the eight British persons, who are of Pakistani and Arab origin, were arrested in December 1998 as the Yemeni government accuses them of forming an armed gang and conspiring to attack foreign interests in Aden The eight suspects denied it and said they were forced to sign confessions under pressure.
The coming session is expected to be held before the judgement, and if the suspects are convicted they will receive sentences of 10 years.
