Bahraini FM supports the convening of Arab summit

Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Muhammad Bin Mubarak has voiced his country's support for the call advocated by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and King Hassan II of Morocco to convene a pan-Arab summit, but under the conditions that such a summit would be preceded by good preparations to reach results strengthening Arab solidarity and attaining the national interests of the Arab states.
Following his meeting with Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid on Monday in Cairo, Bin Mubarak expressed his hope to convene the pan-Arab summit and that amity and understanding will prevail among the Arab states.
Concerning the rapprochement between the Arab Gulf states and Iran, Bin Mubarak added that Bahrain is part of the Gulf Cooperation Council and, "We cooperate with Iran during this phase on the ground of the improvement felt in our relations."
He added that any improvement in the relations between Iran and the GCC member states furthers the interests of all.
He asserted that there are clear decisions concerning the United Arab Emirates islands which were annexed by Iran, which prove that these islands are for the Emirates. He expressed his hope that the question of the three islands will be amicably settled between sides concerned.
