Arab League chief informs Kuwaiti envoy on talks with Iraqi FM
Kuwait, Politics, 6/22/1999

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid on Monday briefed Kuwait's permanent representative at the AL, Abdul Al al-Qena', on the results of talks he held with Iraqi Foreign Minister Muhammad Saeed al-Sahaf.

Following the meeting, al-Qena' said that Iraq did not propose any new agreement pertaining to preparing the Arab atmosphere in order to restore Arab solidarity and purify the atmosphere, adding that Iraq is still refusing the setting up of an Arab mechanism to settle suspended Arab problems between it and each of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Concerning the position towards convening a pan Arab summit, al-Qena' said, "So far Kuwait did not receive what is useful for convening such a summit." He stressed that his country always stands with everything that would restore Arab solidarity and maintain Arab interests.
