Final warning to evacuate offices of Israeli trade mission in Doha
Qatar-Israel, Politics, 6/21/1999
A Qatari court on Sunday rewarned the Israeli trade mission in Doha to evacuate its offices on a date no later than June 27, otherwise these offices will be evacuated by means of force.
The Qatari court which extended the "original evacuation decision," which terminated on Sunday, said that the Qatari authorities will order the expulsion of the mission if it does not evacuate its offices at the new set date.
The owner of the building occupied by the Israeli trade mission stressed that he leased his building to a second party and he did not know then that the building would be used by another party, a matter which made the court issued its decision to evacuate the building on the grounds that renting it without the knowledge of its owner makes it null.
The Qatari court of appeals offered the Israelis last month 15 days to evacuate their offices, but the Israelis did not fulfil the ruling of the court under the pretext that they have "diplomatic immunity."
Later, the Qatari court ruled that the "immunity" does not cover civil cases.
