Gaddafi in Sudan calls on opposition to give up partition ideas
Libya-Sudan, Politics, 6/21/1999

Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gaddafi has appealed to the Sudanese government and opposition to unify in order to end the civil war in Sudan.

In a speech he made following a visit he made on Saturday to al-Shefaa medicinal factory which was destroyed by the USA, Col. Gaddafi called on leaders of the Sudanese opposition to join their masses in order to challenge imperialist conspiracies.

Gaddafi announced his rejection of the separation of southern Sudan. He recommended that rebel leader John Garang give up the idea of separation from Sudan, describing this idea as "a seed from the devil planted by imperialists."

Gaddafi added, "Missiles will not weaken the will of the people, rather they will strengthen their determination," in reference to the medicinal factory destroyed by US missiles last summer.
