Iraqi foreign minister to arrive in Cairo
Iraq-Regional, Politics, 6/19/1999

Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Said al-Sahaf is to arrive today in Cairo for a two-day visit, during which he will meet with Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid and other officials.

Iraq's permanent delegate at the Arab League, Sultan El-Shawi told ArabicNews.com, "The visit aims at discussing a mechanism of Arab work to lift up the siege off Iraq and free the Iraqi, Kuwaiti and Saudi captives (POWs)."

Iraqi diplomatic sources stated that the visit aims at discussing the Arab summit called for recently by Cairo and Morocco and previously by Yemen at the beginning of current year and the possibility of Iraqi President Saddem Hussien's participation in such a summit.
