Bahrain releasing 320 political detainees

Newspapers in Bahrain said that hundreds of prisoners who were recently released will given jobs and training by the government, as the Bahraini government is currently issuing a general pardon for 320 political detainees.

Meanwhile, the government intends to allow jobs for the recently-released detainees as its first priority. The Bahriani prime minister said that this aims at rehabilitating the prisoners, the Ministry of Social Affairs will form a special committee to examine the best means of implementing this new policy.

Bahraini Emir Sheikh Hamad Ben Issa al-Khalifa has announced that 320 detainees will be released, who have been detained for participating in violent actions since 1994 in Bahrain.

Meanwhile, the opposition in Bahrain hailed this initiative, considering it a step towards democracy.
