Moroccan premier to visit Iran shortly
Morocco-Iran, Politics, 6/17/1999

Moroccan prime minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, will pay an official visit to Iran in the few coming weeks.

The announcement was made by Speaker of the Moroccan house of representatives, Abdelouahed Radi, at the end of a meeting here on Wednesday with Iranian President Mohamad Khatami.

Radi, who is visiting Iran to take part in the constituent meeting of the Islamic Parliamentary Union, told MAP special envoy that President Khatami informed him about the Moroccan premier's official visit.

He added that President Khatami vows "great esteem and deep respect" to King Hassan II and that Rabat and Tehran have "converging standpoints" on several topical issues.

Talks with the Iranian head of state covered means of consolidating bilateral relations at governmental and parliamentary levels as well as several international issues of mutual concern, radi said.

The Islamic Parliamentary union will endeavor to foster dialogue between Muslim MPs and serve Islamic causes.
