Al-Sahaf: Iraq exposed to vandalistic attempts
Iraq-Iran, Politics, 6/17/1999
In press statements, Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammad Said al-Sahaf said Iraq has been exposed recently to violent acts, referring to car explosions this week leading to the deaths of seven persons and the injury of more than 30 persons.
The recent attacks appeared to directly target the Iranian opposition movement the Mujahidin Khalq, which resides in Iraq, as about six members of the movement were killed in explosions.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi government accused Iran of being behind the assassination of Mujahidin Khalq members.
In 1997, Tehran attacked the Mujahidin Khalq by jets, and the Iranian government accused the movement of killing an Irani official in late April.
